It's been awhile since I've written anything down as my life as steered itself somewhat away from exhibiting with the birth of my second child, Max, on January of this year. As he's coming towards his one-year mark and becoming more independent and more and more of an all-around cool guy (not to mention his very charming sister, Lucy), I'll be back in the studio and exhibiting once again.

I will be having a three-person show at the Janet Carson Gallery in January 2013 with two other artists/professors, Kari and Mike Tarr, who also graduated from BGSU in Ohio, one finishing directly befoe me (Kari) and the other right after (Mike). This is going to be a very fun show as well as one which explores the possibilities of paint.

I currently have a small painting entitled "Parcel" featured in a campaign for Eau Claire County, Wisconsin, called "The Good Life". This campaign is about defining what makes the county a great place to live. For more information, click on The Good Life for more details and a television ad that also has my work in it.

I am currently in two exhibits in Eau Claire. One is the Faculty Exhibit at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Foster Gallery with two works: "Bluff" and a piece comprised of five smaller works, entitled "Parcels". Also, I am in the LE Phillip's Memorial Public Library Gallery's exhibit "Vision and the Word" where I have collaborated with local poet, visual artist and children's book author Jeannie Roberts. This is very exciting as this has the potential to turn into a children's book in the near future. Very exciting stuff. Jeannie and I will be giving a talk this upcoming Sunday, September 25 at the library beginning at 2pm. You can get more information at LE Phillips Memorial Library and UW-EC Foster Gallery.

I have recently been hired as a full-time Associate Instructor in the Art & Design Department at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Currently, I will be handling the art appreciation courses but will hopefully be folded into studio courses soon. This is finally a substantial foot-in-the-door for being a permanent faculty member in higher ed. And to boot, I won't have to do any traveling as it is located in my hometown. Needless to say, I will be concurrently working at the The ECRAC Gallery and overseeing its imminent remodeling and expansion this autumn. Good things are finally happening!

From April 28 - May 8, the ECRAC Gallery will be hosting Last Minute Exhibit featuring 14 artists with one small artwork apiece in a minimal setting. It will be a wonderful way for the audience to spend some time one-on-one with the art (something that is pretty much unheard of here in the Chippewa Valley, whose gallery motto seems to be "more is better, and a lot more is the bomb"). An artists' reception is Thursday, April 29 from 6-7:30. It's going to be a good one. More information can be found at eauclairearts.com/art_gallery.

I'm writing this a little bit late. But as they say, late is better than never. Or some such thing...

Needless to say, I am currently having a one-person show at the LE Phillips Public Library's Gallery in Eau Claire through November 22nd. Its focus is how my stay last summer in Petrified Forest National Park has influenced even more reduction of my forms and drawing in my canvases, and how color has become more of a concern in my work. I really feel that this path will become more enhanced in work as I move forward. I'm very excited in how this exhibit looks and how my work interacts with each other.

The school year at UW-Stout is finished and the muggy days of summer have begun. And with them are a resurgent need to be in the studio before the school year begins anew next fall (that is, if I get another teaching gig). I'm hoping for a very productive summer.

Also, I am currently in two shows: Forté in the Art Gallery at the Arts Center in Eau Claire - a group show with the other members of the Visual Art Committee at the Arts Center, and the 1st Annual Juried Art Exhibition at Winona State University where I have two pieces hanging. Both of the receptions are in the next couple of days, so it will be a little bit busy. But in a good way.

After that? Work. Oh, and vacation in Colorado for a couple of weeks in a cabin in the mountains. Who can beat that?
